One of our very favorite festivals! Good music, open jamming, dancing, free admission, local crafts and quality contests. The Rounders will perform in Friday evening's concert.

The Rounders won 5th place in the Traditional Band finalists at Clifftop in 2002. And Diane won 2nd place in Senior Banjo for 2003!

JP Fraley Mountain Music Festival,
Carter Caves State Park, Kentucky. Four days of Old Time Mountain Music in the beautiful scenery of Carter Caves State Park, in eastern Kentucky (just off I-64). Concerts, workshops, and open 'jams' take place in the shaded amphitheater near the park's Lodge. Legendary Kentucky fiddler JP Fraley's family has organized this unpretentious and entertaining festival for 30 years. The Reed Island Rounders are among several 'regular' performers, including the Corn Drinkers, from Dayton, Ohio,  master guitarist Robin Kessinger, and innovative dulcimer artist Alan Freeman.

Ed Haley Old Time Fiddle Contest & Festival - Poage Landing Days, Ashland, Ky.
This fiddle contest was originated a few years ago, with the support of family and friends of the late Ed Haley. Also offered are workshops by various fiddlers and banjo players, such as J.P. Fraley, Bobby Taylor & John Herrod. Please contact 1-800-377-6249 for more information.

Diane Jones will be teaching Banjo Class (Beginning Old-Time 5-string Frailing Banjo) throughout the week. The Rounders will join her on Friday night for the concert, and for a square dance on Saturday night, called by Bob Dalsemer.

FOOTMAD FALL FLING 2000!  The Fall Fling is FOOTMAD's annual festival of folk music and dance.
Come to Fayette County for an indoor/outdoor music and dance festival. Performance and workshop areas are sheltered, so the festival goes on rain or shine. The Reed Island Rounders perform for concerts, square dances and the Master Fiddler's workshop. 

Augusta Heritage Workshops "October Old-Time Week" A wonderful week of instruction, jamming and dance in the scenic mountains of West Virginia. Betty taught Advanced Fiddle in 2000, and Intermediate Fiddle in 1999 & 2003.

Augusta Heritage Workshops Summer "Old-Time Week", 1996. One of the best workshops around, featuring artists to teach all levels of several Old-Time instruments, as well as vocals and dance, held in the mountains of West Virginia. In 1996 Betty taught a "Waltz Fiddle" class as part of Old-Time Week.

Mount Airy, North Carolina. Surry Arts Center "Blue Ridge Jamboree". This is an evening concert of Old Time and Bluegrass music, held in the comfortable "Andy Griffith Playhouse", in downtown Mount Airy. It features local musicians, and the audience is encouraged to get up and dance along.

JP Fraley Mountain Music Festival, Carter Caves State Park, Ky. Every September, the week after Labor Day! See you there!

JP Fraley "Dream Retreat" fiddle workshop. 
These three-day weekends are held in April and October at the JP's rustic mountain home in Kentucky. And more recently in Clarkesville, Ga. (July 2001), and Wrightstown, Pa. (Oct. 2001).

Ararat, Virginia Square Dance. This weekly dance is a wonderful way to experience traditional Southwest Virginia square dance calling, with plenty of opportunity to two-step, waltz, flatfoot, and clog dance to live Old Time music, on a great wooden floor!

Burgiss' Barn, Laurel Springs, NC. Another great weekly dance down in the beautiful hills of North Carolina. Each Saturday two bands, one Old-Time and one Bluegrass, trade sets for a variety of lively dance music.

Greensboro Dance, Greensboro, North Carolina. Squares and contradances both taught to live music once a month.

Cincinnati Contradance - Cincinnati, Ohio, with caller Keith Cornett

Blacksburg Square Dance - Blacksburg, Va., with caller Beverly Smith, 8-11pm.

Another nice little community of dedicated dancers. The Rounders trade off the evening's sets with the local 'house' bluegrass band. .

This year celebrates the 50th year of the festival, and is dedicated to the late Wilson Douglas. Betty, Billy, and Wilson's long-time banjo partner Kim Johnson will be presenting a musical tribute to Wilson during the Saturday evening concert.
